Founded: 2004

Current membership: 50

Mission: Fostering one-to-one friendships between students and individuals with disabilities, and promoting inclusion.

The Penn State chapter of the international nonprofit pairs students with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the State College community. They participate in weekly activities that include game nights, as well as larger events such as the Best Buddies Friendship Walk and a polar plunge in collaboration with Special Olympics. Club officers often exchange ideas with members of other chapters in the region. “Everybody who joins the club is in it for the right reasons and wants to make friends,” says president Sophia Chesmer.
