MED SCHOOL PLANS
The psychology and biology double major, who was set to graduate this May, is planning a gap year before starting med school in 2026. He’s long been interested in the brain—and both of those majors have a path toward neuroscience—but he is also curious about careers in dermatology and family medicine.
FIRST RESPONDER
During part of his time at University Park, Kadavil was a firefighter with the Alpha Fire Company in State College; now, as a recent grad, he intends to continue volunteering at a station near his home in Delaware County, Pa. Additionally, Kadavil is a certified EMT and would like to eventually work with a local ambulance corps, which would give him some clinical experience.
DUO LINGO
Kadavil’s honors thesis explored whether casual or formal language is more persuasive in email and text. For example, if a student is requesting an assignment extension from a professor, what kind of rhetoric would be more effective—and why?
SETTING THE STAGE
As a member of the student-run group No Refund Theatre, he acted in two undergraduate plays. (As it turned out, one of his characters was named George.)
CONCUSSION RESEARCH
Since 2022, Kadavil has worked in the lab of Distinguished Professor of Psychology Peter Arnett, helping to administer three-hour studies aimed at learning more about the cognitive effects of traumatic brain injuries. Participants were scored in areas such as the speed of matching exercises and accuracy of memory recall after they heard a story. “I’m really happy we got to do traditional in-person research,” he says, noting that it’s more satisfying than doing it over Zoom. “I love interacting with people face-to-face.”
HOMETOWN
Kadavil grew up in the Bay Area, but moved to Bryn Mawr, Pa., in high school.
