A $1 million grant from the Gene Haas Foundation allowed the Penn State-affiliated Pennsylvania College of Technology in Williamsport to upgrade and renovate its 12,200-square-foot automated manufacturing lab, which was dedicated as the Gene Haas Center for Innovative Manufacturing in November. It includes a new CNC Programming and Simulation Lab, allowing for enhanced instruction; LED high bay lighting for improved illumination; anti-skid epoxy flooring; HVAC and electrical utility improvements; sound-abatement panels for a better user and visitor experience; and loading-dock upgrades. The renovation prioritizes the school’s for-credit programs in the automated manufacturing and machining program cluster.

Practical Experience

The Penn College Physician Assistant Center (above) recently added a family medicine lab, a women’s health lab, and an emergency medicine lab, all of which will help students in the physician assistant studies master’s program, and the combined bachelor’s-master’s degree in physician assistant studies, mirror scenarios they will encounter during their clinical rotations.
