Mission: To connect students with leaders in the turfgrass industry

Members: 20–30

Penn State has long been known for its turfgrass science program and research center, and the Turf Club has little trouble lining up a slate of guest speakers from across Pennsylvania and beyond. The club meets weekly for networking, educational opportunities, and the occasional field trip, says Hunter King, a junior majoring in turfgrass science and treasurer of the club. “A lot of the talk is about how to manage people effectively. That’s a huge part of our job,” King says. “But it can vary from some detailed science about growing grass at the playing surface to sales reps for chemical or equipment companies that come in to talk about sales.”
