The Erie campus, which celebrates its 75th anniversary this year, is in the process of repurposing the historic Federal House in a $6.3 million project that will create a new home for the Susan Hirt Hagen Center for Community Outreach, Research, and Evaluation (CORE). The redesign will allow CORE to expand its youth outreach programs, most of which had previously been held off-campus. CORE programs impact more than 3,000 young people across the Erie region each year.

Erie Hall, the campus’s original gymnasium, is scheduled to reopen as a new fitness and wellness center in January. The $28 million expansion, which triples the size of the building (and was designed by alum Sally Ferrell ’14 A&A and her international architecture firm, Sasaki), includes three gymnasiums, a workout space with exercise equipment, and offices for personal counseling and wellness, which were previously located in the Reed Union Building. The facility will also host workshops on stress management, nutrition, and other healthy living strategies.
