"For its first two years, back in 1973 and ’74, Dance Marathon was held in the HUB Ballroom, and WEHR, the campus radio station based in East Halls, provided the music. I was part of the WEHR staff in those days, and I think a couple from WEHR danced in one of those early events. We did our best to help the dancers get through.
I don’t remember many details from those first two events, but then, it was over half a century ago! The specific memories I have are that the room’s small size made for close quarters for the dancers, and that I was standing by the windows at one point when a loud, bass-driven song was being played and I could see the glass vibrating from the sound!
Somehow, I still have this shirt. After those early years, I had it packed away for decades and never wore it again. I had forgotten I had it until about 10 years ago, when I came across it in a drawer. The “DANCE MARATHON” imprint has moderate flaking, but the fabric is intact." -Russ Rossman '77 Bus
