1960s

John C. Powell ’65 Com (ΣΧ) received an alumni achievement award from the Bellisario College of Communications. He was the founding director of the sports business program at the Smeal College of Business and also served as associate athletic director for marketing and development, as well as vice president for AT&T Consumer Services. He also inspired a popular sports media and society course in the Bellisario College. He lives in Centre Hall, Pa.

Jay Glickman ’67 Bus, partner at law firm Rubin, Glickman, Steinberg, and Gifford, has been named a “2025 Best Lawyer in America” in the practice area of trusts and estates law by Best Lawyers. He lives in Landsdale, Pa.

Carl Olson ’67 Lib is the author of three books, The Nostalgia for Origins: Religion, Evolution, Cognition, and Memory; The Stain of Errors on the Self; and Playing in Emptiness: Introduction to Zen Buddhist Discourse. He lives in Meadville, Pa.


1970s

Marc Robert Steinberg ’70 Lib (ΦΣΔ), partner at law firm Rubin, Glickman, Steinberg, and Gifford, has been named a “2024 Best Lawyer in America” in the practice area of criminal defense by Best Lawyers. He specializes in the practice of criminal law, personal injury, and alternate dispute resolution. He lives in North Wales, Pa.

Joseph M. Zoshak ’73 Edu and Mary G. Ewing Zoshak ’74 A&A celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 22, 2024. They met at University Park in the spring of 1972. They live in Malvern, Pa.

Bert J. Olechnowicz ’79 Bus recently left the position of certification director for NOFA-NY Certified Organic LLC to join the finance department at the Guthrie Clinic in Sayre, Pa. He lives in Binghamton, N.Y.


1980s

Anthony Gladfelter ’80 Hbg received the Silver Beaver award from the Pennsylvania Dutch Council Scouting America (formerly Boy Scouts of America), the highest award for volunteers at the council level. He has more than 50 years of service in scouting and still uses the outdoor skills he learned there on many outdoor adventures, including hiking, fishing, and hunting, with other Penn State Harrisburg alumni. He lives in Elizabethtown, Pa.

Joleen Olechnowicz ’80 Eng is a cataloger at the Four County Library System in Vestal, N.Y. She lives in Binghamton, N.Y.

Jeffrey Kunkel ’82, ’95 DEd A&A (Blue Band) was named professor emeritus by Montclair State University in New Jersey, where he taught in the Cali School of Music for 23 years. He lives in Pittsburgh.

Constance Butler Long ’82 H&HD (ΓΦΒ) was awarded the Philadelphia Area Alumnae Panhellenic’s 2024 Outstanding Alumna Award for her many years of service to her sorority, the organization, and her church and community. She lives in Exton, Pa.

Thomas P. Murt ’82 Bus has been elected a district judge in Montgomery County, Pa. He previously served in Pennsylvania’s House of Representatives. He lives in Hatboro, Pa.

Michael A. Fidanza ’87, ’89 MS Agr, professor of plant and soil science at Penn State Berks, published a textbook titled Achieving Sustainable Turfgrass Management. He lives in Downingtown, Pa.

Todd G. Fitch ’88 H&HD retired after 27 years as an IT leader and senior project manager with Kollmorgen Corporation in Radford, Va. He plans to occupy his time with automotive pursuits, volunteering, and travel. His last Monday in the workforce was his daughter Sarah’s first day of classes at University Park, where she is earning her Ph.D. in biomedical physiology. He lives in Blacksburg, Va.

James A. Feath ’99, ’02 MS A&A was promoted to vice president of operations at infrastructure firm Herbert, Rowland & Grubic. He has worked in HRG’s Pittsburgh office since 2018 and has more than 25 years of experience with the firm. Feath is a registered landscape architect with vast expertise in site planning and development, particularly in the areas of parks and recreational facilities, trails, and public spaces. He lives in Wexford, Pa.

Karen Norheim ’99, ’07 MS, ’09 MBA Bus, president and CEO of American Crane & Equipment Corporation, received the Diamonds of the Decades Award that acknowledges individuals affiliated with Penn State Great Valley who have made significant contributions or achieved notable success in workforce improvement, community engagement, professional development, philanthropy, or research. She lives in Douglassville, Pa.

Joce Sistrunk Sterman ’99 Com won the Radio Television Digital News Association’s Edward R. Murrow Award and the Society of Professional Journalists’ Sigma Delta Chi Award for the investigative news series “Railroaded,” about the pollution and health risks to residential communities from idling trains. She is a national investigative reporter with Investigate TV/Gray Media. She lives in Shrewsbury, Pa.


2000s

Nolan Kurtz ’02 MBA Bus Hbg has joined international law firm Faegre Drinker as chief operating officer, leading the firm’s C-suite and global operations team from its Philadelphia office. He lives in Harrisburg, Pa.

Jacob Haqq-Misra ’07 MS, ’10 PhD EMS and Gina Marie Misra ’05 H&HD welcomed Selene Isabelle Misra into their family on Oct. 4, 2024. They live in Clayton, Del.

Samuel Waterman ’09 Lib was promoted to the rank of lieutenant colonel in the U.S Air Force. He is currently a branch chief assigned to the U.S Space Force headquarters at the Pentagon. He lives in Annandale, Va.

William S. Cossen ’12 MA, ’16 PhD Lib was named the 2024-2025 Teacher of the Year at the Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science and Technology in Lawrenceville, Ga. He serves as the chair of the school’s social studies department and teaches courses in U.S. history, U.S. government and politics, and comparative government and politics. He lives in Decatur, Ga.

Christopher Bowes ’14 H&HD and Amanda Gresh ’14 H&HD married on Sept. 21, 2024, after a five-year engagement. They live in Lewisburg, Pa.

MARRIED IN BLUE AND WHITE: From the bride’s bouquet to the Nittany Lion cake toppers and paw print chocolate wedding favors, the July 2024 wedding of Steven Heimbach and Jessica Fisher in Lewistown, Pa., was Penn State all the way. “The groomsmen wore Penn State ties and socks,” says Heimbach ’15 Hbg.

 

Tatyanah M. Brehouse ’19 Bus (THON) joined law firm Pietragallo Gordon Alfano Bosick & Raspanti LLP as an associate in the employment & labor practice group. Prior to joining the firm, she clerked at a regional boutique law firm, where she focused on employment and business matters. She was also an intern for the Hon. George W. Overton of the First Judicial District of Pennsylvania, Court of Common Pleas, Orphans’ Court. She lives in Philadelphia.
