An Academy Award for Tom Ortenberg

Tom Ortenberg ’82 had a pretty great Sunday night. Ortenberg is the CEO of Open Road Films, the company that distributed the Academy Award winner for Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay, Spotlight. Additionally, Ortenberg was one of the film’s executive producers.
While I didn’t see Spotlight, just about every review that I’ve read says that it’s an outstanding movie. It tells the story of a group of investigative journalists at The Boston Globe who dig into allegations of sexual abuse by Catholic priests in Boston. Currently, it has a 96 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, a 93/100 on Metacritic, and an 8.2/10 on IMDb.
In addition to the two awards it won, Spotlight was nominated for Best Director, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, and Best Film Editing.
