Another Tribute to Sgt. Bill Cahir

Eight years ago today, the war in Afghanistan began. To mark the day, the Today show featured the story of Sgt. Bill Cahir ’90, who was killed Aug. 13 in Afghanistan. His pregnant wife, Rene Browne, tells how he called in early August for details about her doctor’s appointment, and his father, John ’61 ’71 PhD, recounts how he announced the Sunday after 9/11 that he was planning to join the military.

It’s gripping stuff, and a beautiful tribute not just to Cahir, but to all of the brave men and women in our armed forces. You can watch it here.

Just wanted to provide a heads up – on Saturday, 09 January 2010, there will be a benefit concert at Cafe 210 W from 7-10pm. $5 cover at the door will go to the Bill Cahir Memorial Fund for the education of his newborn daughters.
