Our July/Aug. issue featured a story about the Penn State Center for Sport Concussion and Research, where professor Semyon Slobounov and others are rethinking the diagnoses and treatment of brain injuries. After we published the magazine, we heard from a number of readers requesting a copy of the article. At their suggestion, we’ve posted a PDF of the story.

I’ve been recovering for the past 15 months from a concussion that I sustained in a car accident. I am finally well enough to read my year’s worth of Penn Stater magazines that piled up during my recovery. I read this article about concussions with great interest. I smiled when I saw that my neurologist Dr. Robert Cantu is quoted on page 40. While there is a lot of focus on student athletes and concussions, I’d like to raise awareness that anyone can sustain a debilitating concussion. If you sustain a concussion, seek appropriate medical treatment from a concussion specialist.
