THREE ADVICE
Moriah Murray is dangerous from long range. The Lady Lions’ redshirt junior guard drilled a half-court shot against Yale earlier this season, and once connected on nine 3-pointers during a game. She breaks down the keys to a reliable, repeatable stroke here.
HANDS ON

Murray recommends having all four fingers of your shooting hand on the seams of the ball to ensure proper spin; you should rotate it between the catch and the shot if necessary.
TRAJECTORY CHECK
Murray’s ideal arc on 3-point shots is one that puts the ball just over the edge of the rim; too much arc means you’ll have to use your legs more.
LOCKED IN
The elbow, not the wrist, does most of the work on the shot (with the extra power coming from core and legs). Keep your elbow straight up and down to keep the shot online.
GRAB A COOKIE
Your follow-through should end with your fingers pointed down, as though you’re reaching into a cookie jar. Murray returns to this fundamental when she’s in a slump.
