The Centre Daily Times has released an update on funeral arrangements and plans for a memorial service to honor Joe Paterno:
—A public viewing from 1 to 11 p.m. Tuesday and 8 a.m. to noon on Wednesday at the Pasquerilla Spiritual Center on campus.
—A private funeral service for the family at 2 p.m. Wednesday.
—A public memorial service at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Bryce Jordan Center.
In the meantime, there are few ways you can honor Joe Paterno’s memory online:
—Sign the guestbook at the Koch Funeral Home website. Posted last night, the guestbook already tops 67 pages.
—Donate to THON or the Special Olympics of Pennsylvania. Directions on how to make a donation in Joe Paterno’s memory are posted on both websites.

The memorial is on a Thursday?!? Great job ignoring alumni that live in PGH, PHL, BAL, or DC!
The 2pm time frame ensures that anybody with a job and not already in State College cannot attend.
Have it at Beaver Stadium on a Saturday! I can endure an hour in the cold for Joe.

For everyone complaining about when services are, etc. ……get over yourself. Perhaps you should think about what the FAMILY wants at this time. While we all feel the loss, their loss is greater than ours could ever be.
Peace and blessings to the Paterno family. Thank you for sharing Joe with all of us!

Not on a Saturday, the day he became famous on AND allowing everyone out of town to attend, is just another one of the PR nightmares committed by the Penn State front office. At some point you should look out for your Alumni, you know, the ones that cut the checks.

@Amber, the memorial is for students and alumni…. except that alumni can’t go because it’s on a Thursday. I’m not talking about the viewings which are for the family. Just another fumble by the PR department of PSU.

You will be remembered for all of the good things you accomplished, as an honorable man.

Wouldn’t streaming the service solve the “can’t travel” issue for at least a few alumni?
And seriously, let’s all remember why there’s a memorial service in the first place and think about what comforts the Paterno family most.
I’m certain that bickering and taking more pot-shots isn’t what JoePa would have us doing to the Penn State he so loved.

My thoughts and prayers are with the fanily and friends of Joe Paterno. He was a great man and an inspiration to us all, but perhaps mostly to all of the Penn State students and alumni.
JoePa made us Penn State proud and we miss him more than many could ever imagine.
We are PENN STATE!

Do you know if the memorial will be televised at all? Thanks!

We’re told that the Big Ten Network, http://BTN.com and BTN2Go will provide live coverage.

To Joe Paterno: As your son Jay stated: You did your job…you won. Now you pass the baton to us and now it’s our job. Go Blees You and your Family. We are Penn State!
