That was the simple caption that my Penn State colleague Sara Platz Brennen ’92 wrote when she posted this photo to her Facebook page tonight. Click to see the image bigger.

A great man, a very generous soul, decades of extraordinary accomplishment, a true spirit of dedication and love for his university, his family and his team. A great loss for all of us who love Penn State. Rest in peace, Coach. We love you.

Although everyone of us knew this day would happen, there’s no way to be prepared for the deep grief and sense of loss I feel knowing our beloved JoePa is gone. My heartache can’t be measured – I can’t imagine the pain his family is suffering. May our love, devotion and pride- well deserved and continually earned by Coach- comfort his dear family at this solemn time.

Now the University and its minions deem it necessary to honor him after his death…too late and an unforgiveable mistake by a University that only seeks to protect its corrupt bureauracy.
In fairness, the entire Board of Trustees should resign or be fired immediately.
