A Top-20 Preseason Ranking, and a Looming Tide

The USA Today preseason coaches’ poll was released Friday, with Penn State ranking 14th in the initial survey. The Nittany Lions are one of four Big Ten teams in the Top 25, led by No. 2 Ohio State. And the preseason No. 1? Alabama. The defending national champs were an almost unanimous choice, and should be heavily favored when they host Penn State in Tuscaloosa on Sept. 11.
