The Cats Have Requested Equal Time

I think it’s fair to say that you see many more chiens (dogs) in France and Germany than chats (cats). Dogs seem to be everywhere, but so far on this trip I’ve seen a grand total of two cats. One was a fleeting glimpse of a cat the other day in I-forget-which-town … and the other was this guy, who was wandering around the courtyard of Schloss Weikersheim (Weikersheim Castle) this morning.
He let me scratch his back and rub his ears, and he even allowed me to pick him up—briefly. But he soon decided he had had enough and placed his teeth around my hand ever so gently, as if to say, “I’m askin’ you real nice: Put me down.”
I have three cats back home, so I love to see (and pet) a cat when I’m traveling. But I still think the top animal on the trip so far was the Jack Russell terrier who greeted us in Kaysersberg. Check out his photo if you haven’t already.
