NFL Draft: Ready for Prime Time

Let me state up front that although college football is my favorite sport and I love NFL football, I am not a fan of the NFL Draft. Put the players on the field, and I’m there. Watching teams decide who they’re going to pick? Just not going to watch that.
That said, I seem to be in the minority of NFL fans. The draft, a fixture of ESPN’s schedule for years and appointment viewing for some of my best friends, is so popular that it’s moving to prime time tonight. Jenny Vrentas ’06, a sports writer for the The Star-Ledger in Newark, N.J., has a nice piece on how the draft evolved into the production it is today.
If you watch, keep an eye out for defensive lineman Jared Odrick, a force for the Lions last season although he was generally fighting off double teams, who is among the possible first-round picks.
