Possible Big Ten Expansion—From Every Possible Angle

Here’s a guy with maybe just a little too much time on his hands. But if you’re really interested in the recently renewed talk of a Big Ten expansion, you should check out the detailed analysis of a blogger who calls himself “Frank the Tank.”
Frank is a suburban-Chicago lawyer who’s a University of Illinois fan, and a week ago he posted a 7,000-word treatise on which school might get added to the Big Ten—including what he calls “The Pretenders,” “The Contenders,” and “The Only Real Choices.” Last night he added a 3,000 word follow-up post. (I mention the lengths because they’re longer than most of the features we assign for the magazine!)
In the end, he concludes that there’s only one school that makes sense as a candidate to be added to the conference. I suspect that his choice will surprise you.
