Khairi Fortt Already Knows His Lines

October 6, 2009

forttRecruiting analysts will tell you Penn State is putting together one of the best football recruiting classes in the nation. The latest addition to the incoming class of 2010: Khairi Fortt, a 6-foot-3, 225-pound senior from Stamford, Conn., who is considered one of the best prep linebackers in the nation. On Monday, Fortt verbally committed to the Nittany Lions, and while we normally don’t make a point of blogging about every kid who signs up to play for Penn State—there are plenty of folks out there doing that full-time—Fortt said something Monday that we just couldn’t ignore:

“They say in Happy Valley that if God wasn’t a Penn State fan, why is the sky blue and white?” Fortt said. “Who am I to argue with God?”

Yeah, we like this kid already.

Oh, and that Georgia shirt he’s wearing in the photo? The Bulldogs were one of the schools—along with USC and Big Ten rival Michigan—whom Fortt spurned for Penn State. I don’t imagine we’ll see him wearing that again.
