I Bet She Remembers Every Second of It

Erin Luley was featured in the “Everyday People” section of our March/April 2008 issue. Then a sophomore at University Park, Luley had caught our eye after setting national records in the 2007 USA Memory Championships. The story made passing reference to Luley being on the Nittany Lion swim team, a fact I’d forgotten until this morning, when her named turned up in a Google news alert. The Capital newspaper of Annapolis, Md., reports that Luley, who will be a senior this fall, was the top female finisher Sunday at the 18th annual Great Chesapeake Bay Swim. The Schreyer Honors College scholar, who swims freestyle for Penn State, finished the 4.4-mile race in 1 hour, 44 minutes and 18 seconds.
